Statwax Team Spotlight: Morgan Petrov, Director of SEO
At Statwax, our values are at the core of everything we do. We truly value personal authenticity, which means fostering relationships with our people on a personal level. Although our team members are working from home due to COVID-19, distance cannot stop us from connecting with our teammates and adding new faces to the Statwax family.
Our next Statwax Spotlight goes to Morgan Petrov, the newest addition to the Dallas team. Despite remotely onboarding during a global pandemic, Morgan has comfortably found herself immersed within the Statwax culture.
Why did you choose to work at a digital marketing agency that has a focus in the education space?
It sounds corny to say but, the realm of education marketing chose me. There’s no doubt that my experience at The University of Mississippi really shaped my future. Without my college experience, I would have never known just how big the world is and how many opportunities exist within it. Working with higher education clients, you’re not just marketing a product or a service. You’re building a powerful relationship between a school and a prospective student who has an entire lifetime ahead of them. Digital marketing for educators is something so much larger than myself.
How does Statwax support your professional development?
Before Statwax, I worked in content-heavy roles from public relations to SEO copywriting. But, I knew I wanted to gauge the impact of my writing and learn how my content was engaging target consumers. Since joining the team, everyone at Statwax has been eager to show me all the tricks of the trade. In just a short time at the company, I’ve already learned so much.
What activities does Statwax offer to promote team building?
Even though we’re in the middle of a global pandemic, the team still manages to have virtual happy hours and play games over Zoom calls. I think it’s really special that, no matter how far apart the team is, we still find ways to interact with each other.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
There’s never a dull moment and I like to stay busy and active. On an average day, I enjoy working out before logging into our morning huddle meetings. After work, I’m normally tending to all of my houseplants as well as the succulents and cacti in my balcony garden. I have over 30 different plant species, so you could say I’m an aficionado of sorts. I also really enjoy creating recipes and trying new things in the kitchen.
But, if you’re out and about in Dallas on the weekends, you’ll usually catch me strutting down the aisles of the garden centers, buying another plant, or doing various outdoor activities like tennis, kayaking, or walking nature trails.
Do you have any advice or encouragement to share?
“Nothing worth having ever comes easily.” That’s what my dad told me when I was a high school senior, playing two sports and working three jobs to save for future college expenses. And, he was right. If you want something bad enough, you have to hustle to get it, no matter how rough the path is to get there.
