Statwax Location Spotlight: Fishers

Technology helps make connections, and for a company like ours with multiple offices, that is especially true. Whether it is our weekly all-hands meeting that we conduct via video to see all our team members no matter their location, or our online team trainings, making sure our entire company feels connected across our offices is key for us. We hope this connection extends (in a  real and virtual way) from our satellite offices to our home office in Fishers, Indiana, which is the star of our final office spotlight

What are some of your favorite places to grab lunch near the office?

We are super lucky (as we all love food) to have a lot of choices for amazing food near our office.

For people who love pizza, we have Puccini’s, which has daily lunch slice specials for meat lovers (the Razorback is a team favorite) and vegetarians, as well as Aureilo’s, which was our 2018 office pizza bracket winner. About a year ago we also got a Portillo’s that we can literally see from our office – we often debate whether the Chicago dogs or the Italian beef sandwiches are a better choice. And of course, you can’t forget their famous chocolate cake! We love celebrating team wins at Ale Emporium, where the Hermanki boneless wings are a favorite. One of our top places to take new team members and people from our other offices is Sunrise Cafe, which serves breakfast all day (yum!) and these amazing breadsticks which are the size of a baseball bat. And we’re really looking forward to the opening of The Yard near our office, which will feature three scratch kitchens!

The office is in an Indiana suburb, which might not be well known to people outside of the state – what are a few fun things to do in and around Fishers?

We have some great options for fun around Fishers. There’s a Top Golf right across the street from our office (dangerous, we know), as well as an Escape Room right down the street (a favorite place for team bonding activities). Downtown Fishers also has a section called the Nickel Plate District, where they have an amphitheater and weekly concerts on the lawn that we can head to during lunch. We also have an outdoor history park called Connor Prairie, which aside from showing living history, has hot air balloon rides and a giant outdoor concert series called Symphony on the Prairie during the summer – the fourth of July fireworks are a must-see!

What are three things you think people would find interesting about Fishers?

Money Magazine recently named Fishers as the #3 best place to live in America, which is pretty amazing. Additionally, Fishers (when it was just a town), was called Mudsock. History says the name came from people who would get off the train, step in a watery mess and end up with a mud-covered sock. Finally, we love that Fishers features a unique co-working space (that we can use as another office location!) called Launch Fishers which is home to entrepreneur companies and a workspace for major Indiana staples like Ball State, and the Indiana IoT Lab – both of which are across the street from our office!

Where are your favorite places to volunteer near the office?

Our goal as a company is to volunteer once a quarter, as we really believe in giving back to the community where we work (and many of us live). As a whole team we have spent time at Gleaners Food Bank sorting food as well as at Backpack Attack organizing school supplies (which means a lot to us since our clients are educational institutions). We also offer paid volunteer days off so individuals or smaller teams can give their time to causes they care about, like the Hamilton County Humane Society. We also regularly do in-office drives for organizations, including Cans for Kili, so even when we are busy and feel like we can’t physically donate our time that we can still give back.
